I've managed to pick up a second hand sky dish to fit to my spare sky box to put into our caravan. My query is I want to avoid drilling thru with the cable from the dish.
I have an existing tv point with cable going to the outside tv ariel.
Can I disconnect the cable from the aeriel, use a connector/extension to join to the cable from the dish.
If this is possible is there a connection I can get to connect from the tv point to go into the sky box.
Sorry if it sounds a bit mixed up.
Please help
thank you

I think this may be what you are after

I am not 100 percent sure that the coax would be efficient. it would need to be decent coax for the sat to work, however there is voltage sent down the wire when the satbox is connected, so make sure it is off whilst you are adjusting it
However it could be better if you snuck or threaded another proper Satellite down the hole with the television coax and terminated the end with a box like this

a possible way would be to get a length of SAT coax and new Tv coax, tape them together and attach them securely to the end of the existing coax, GENTLY pull out the old tv coax and it should depending on the run, let you feed in the new cable, replacing the old with the new two
it may need a spare pair of hands to help feed the cable through
this way it is replaced and neat
good luck0 -

Thank you very much for that i'll give it a go this weekend. I already have the box there, I take it you mean that I could take the box off pull out tv coax and replace with sat coax.

I think if I remember right that sat cable and tv coax cable are both 75 ohms
but sat cable tends to have an outer foil wrap. Depends upon the cable run really with regards to any loss. I think years back sat cable was 50ohms. It should tell you in your sat manual anyway or do a search on sat cable impedance.

yes if you attached the new coaxes to the end of the old one as you GENTLY remove the old one it should drag the new coaxes up and out of the existing holes where the old tv coax used to be
Give it a go but do not pull too hard0
