I'm in a small chain, my buyer is a first time buyer and my vendors agreed at the time of accepting my offer that they would not tie the purchase into a chain. That was one of the conditions for me going a little bit higher than my initial offer. This is mentioned on the memorandum of sale as follows: "we undertsand that the [family name of vendors] are not linking the sale of their property to a purchase.
Anyway, it appears this was a crock of !!!! because now we are trying to get a date for completion out of them and they keep putting us off. They are not responding to my solicitor's requests and when I rang their estate agent it turns out they have done nothing about removals etc.
Now the estate agent tells me that they DO want to tie us into their chain, which has two above them in it. This is now six weeks since our offer was accepted. The estate agents says she "thinks" the chain above will be looking to complete on the 6th October, which as it happens would be fine however I'm a bit concerned that further delays will happen. Any ideas what (if anything) I can do?

Not much Im afraid, this happens quite a lot, vendors change their mind about going in to rented. As the delay is not going to be long and you still want the house and have done everything and incurred all the costs theres not any thing you can do except go along with it. Frustrating system.Pawpurrs x0

I thought so
It's just a worry that it will lead to much worse delays should anything go wrong wheras at the moment we are ready to go
