Thanks in advance,
Firstly my phone line went dead, finally found the problem, everytime i plugged in my broadband cable from my pc's internal modem to the phone socket line goes dead!
Replaced the cable and tried 3 other filters with no joy.
Have taken the pc to other bt extention sockets in the house with the same result. my daughter can connect her pc upstairs with no problem so its not my ISP.
Would it be fair to assume my internal Modem has packed in?
Regards

Found the problem yes indeed it was plugged into the ethernet port on my PC, somehow the cable had come out of the right port and i placed it back in the ethernet port, really wierd how it knocked my phone line out when i plugged the cable into the bt socket.
Anyway gaz you were spot on with your diagnosis.
Working fine now.
Thanks

Hi, is this one of the PCs that were being sold through BT a couple of years or more ago? - they had a built-in adsl modem card. If so, it's quite probable that the modem has expired - I've seen two of these go in the last year.0
