So they have removed the gas fires, which are clearly part of the fixtures and fittings unless otherwise agreed? You need to speak to your solicitor to seek a resolution to that.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I would expect the cost to be around £3.5-£4k for this type of property.
Thanks. That's what I would have thought
I have only seen the one quote, which is from a Corgi registered company back in June, at £5k. Thinking now of trying to buy the parts and get someone in to install it as I've heard this can be cheaper. 0 -

Hi...psychic quoting? I'd go with quotations from recommended RGIs who have seen (in person;)) the job. The standard of the specification (eg. make of boiler, inclusion of a magnetic filter, scale inhibitor, pipe lagging, wireless controls, decent TRVs, completion of Benchmark Log and notification of the installation to Building Control) and the site requirements (upgrading gas/mains water supplies, plume management kit needed?, access issues- scaffolding required??) as well as your location in London all impact on cost.
Before you run out and buy the boiler, rads and other materials make sure you find a RGI who will agree to use materials supplied by you...reasons for this have been discussed many times on MSE
For what, ideally, should be included in a quotation see here.
Btw...the RGI must be registered with Gas Safe Register not CORGI.
Let us know how you get on.

If you buy the parts and find an installer willing to fit them, you can bet that in the event of a problem, you will be the unhappy piggy in the middle between the manufacturer and the installer. A decent RGI will know where to source parts better than you, and get better discounts. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Heh, I reckon someone could make a tidy wage doing just such a thing around here!0 -
Most jobs of the same property type come out to roughly the same price. Individual site differences which only the installer present can see, will make a little difference, maybe of a couple of hundred pounds or similar, but as the op asked for a guide price and not a quote on here, then it is a case of just using experience.
If they wanted a quote then that is a completely different scenario.0 -

Materials costs like for like will be roughly the same regardless of location in the UK (with some exceptions e.g.offshore) but labour costs vary tremendously....London being considerably more expensive than Norwich...you have given the OP a 'guide price' which does not represent the reality of the legitimate market in London. Individual site differences can add £££s to a quote e.g.scaffolding, congestion zone and parking charges (if parking is available, that is).

Hi All,
Looking to replace 50+ yr old back bolier and ripping out cold water storage tank, (all rusty & now leaking!), and installing Combi, were thinking of getting quotes from Brit Gas but from reading the forums not many people reccommend them, can anyone give any advice or what sort of prices we should be looking at to pay, (Manchester area), first house and wishing stayed with parents, far far cheaper!
Thanks for help, info.0 -
£2500-£3000.
If it is true what we hear that prices up north are cheaper then hopefully around the bottom figure. Will depend on the condition of existing radiators and quality of boiler installed and where the new boiler is to be fitted.0
