Drive through Tesco

Tesco is going down the reserve and collect route. You can order online like you you for home delivery but can pick it up at the store. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20100822/tuk-tesco-to-open-drive-thru-store-6323e80.html

Nice idea, now all I need is a car....

Maybe they could do the opposite: I shop at 10am when theres food on the shelves, they deliver when I get home at 10pm, and I don't spend the evening crawling my way around restocking crates!

Do you actually need a car?

Could you order 2 carrier bags full of shopping, then walk down to Tesco and and wait in the car park to pick them up?

Apart from that, are they really going to employ someone to stand in the car park waiting for someone to turn up and hand them their order?

Might be a rubbish paid job, but at least you could have a smoke whenever you wanted :D

i really dont understand this concept, surely if you can travel by car and have the space to hold your shopping then you can go into the shop and pick the groceries yourself..to me the idea of this isnt as fathomable as online shopping where you may not be able to transport larger/heavier food items ...oh well

I suppose it would work when we were driving somewhere on holiday - stop off at the local Tesco and pick up the shopping then carry on driving rather than getting Tesco to deliver to the holiday cottage / lodge / caravan / tent / bivouac under a tree (well, there are some keen moneysavers on here, you never know!)

    Hi all
Could the law lords and members of Tesco R & D be aware I want a new law passed called "A Drive By Shouting".
Every time I pass any tesco store I commit this offence, you may have guessed cannot stand Tesco.

I disagree, im all for the idea, and i DO have a car but usually shop online, i can't stand going food shopping, people bumping me with trolleys, getting in my way and standing in long queues are not things i like. It means if i only want a few items i can get them to have them ready and go and collect, great stuff!

    Absolutely...,
And who has the time to spend 45 mins for example in the shop??
This way you will be able to stop at Tescos and still manage to pick up little ones at school on time..

I think it is splendid idea.

surley this defeats the point of doing it online cause if you time to drive to pick it up you can just go to tescos

It's about saving on time and delivery costs. I think it's an absolutely fantastic idea.

you could in theory smoke when you wnated but you would have to do it round the side so as to not give a bad impression of tesco's eg a tesco employee in uniform stood outside the store smoking
