Disaster!

Just need a moan as things just keep getting worse and worse. We have managed to clear quite a lot of debt, still have a way to go but felt we were on the right track. Was delighted when DH(who many of you will know has had serious health problems.) got a teaching job which was fantastic. They would only give him the job on a suply basis due to his health history but beggers etc... Anyway job is a disaster-cant go into it as the school would be quite easy to identify. Am currently awaiting a visit from a bailiff despite getting both the MP & council involved.Bailiff added costs for two "visits" when we were at home and nobody was near costs added were £18.50 AND £22!! Then got letter with a further £161 added. Our house is falling apart again you wouldnt believe the state of it suffice to say buckets play a big part in our lives. I'm SO worried about hubby he is very near to breaking point. Am scared he will break down physcially, mentally or both. Have always been able to sort things out but have no idea how to. Am SO tired. Just wanted to talk to somebody, I know that all of you wonderful people have pressures and worries of your own, but as we have no close family or friends its fallen to you.(sorry sorry) Thanks for being there even though ive not been able to post i've been following your stories and sharing your good news and battles. Thank you for being there. This community keeps me sane(ish). Also everyone i owe PM's to will get my finger out very soon. Thank you all. Annie XXXX

So why is the school such a disaster? Has something famous happened there? Or is it that his health needs are known there?

Could you claim on your buildings insurance for your roof etc??

Have you tried talking to CAB - they could deal with the Bailiff problem on your behalf. Also, they may be able to reccomend if there is any help available for the house problems.

Yes. But not in THAT way! There was a leak and the water was comming out of the overflow pipi which wasn't to great for the outside wall. Our plumber who was fab but has sadly, retired told us to disconnect the ballcock so we have the ballcock wedged by the arm,and flush the loo with our buckets. There is plenty of water as the bath plughole is kna***rd as well so we have to empty it manually or the kitchen gets a shower. Bit fustrating as the house with the work done is worth £138-40k even as it is worth about £110 k we have a mortgage of less than £20k. So when we get DH sorted we will be ok. By the way please dont think i'm whinging, it was our decision to throw EVEYTHING at our debts-we knew that there would be conciquences. Just feeling mard I guess.

changing the ballcock assembly is a DIY job.... haven't bought one recently but they probably cost less than £20 plus a plumbing book from the library..not sure about the drain plug assembly but could we say £5?

Oh right will have a go(am pretty useless but cant lose anything by trying) Regarding the bath its the pipework not the actual plughole and that is without doubt out of my league. Thanks for the info on ballcock will head to B&Q and give it a go.

dont forgot to get the book from the library.

obviously i can't see the problems but waste water type pipe work is easy to fit and connect up but obviously depends upon the detail.
