  • From T&C's:
The offer is for a 1 month guest membership, strictly 1 voucher per person. The offer is only available by collecting tokens from Kelloggs cereal packets and sending away for a letter of validation.
Could be a problem if they ask for your letter when you tun up for your trial. Has anyone actually booked and been into a club for this yet?
  • My husband, myself and my daughter did this-we just walked in with our vouchers (which incidentally didnt print properly!) showed the voucher and our iphone recipet as extra proof -filled a form in and then we were in -my daughter is under 16 yet they didnt even ask her age! They didnt even ask if we wanted an induction-we went on a sunday morning and it was quiet so whether they coudn't be bothered?

Sorry but that would send alarm bells ringing! Thats a risk- even at my local council gym they wont so much as let you in the gym unless they are sure you have had an induction, its just dangerous without one and they would be completely liable if they had not done the induction.
  • Arrgghh, so do I need this validation letter or not? This seems like a great deal, but don't want the embarrassment of being told I can't have my freebie. lol
  • the embarrasments worth it surely ?? lol
  • It says in the terms and coniditions you need to send off kellogs tokens and youll recieve letter of validation?
Anyone actually bothered with this or can you get away with it without it!?

LA Fitness wouldn't let me touch gym equipment without an induction, but it's standard with Fitness First. They are not required to provide an induction, unless members request one - although the one I go to (which is an EXCELLENT gym with very good staff) offers one to all new joiners.

I personally prefer that approach as I've used gyms for years; if I don't know how to use a piece of equipment I'm unfamiliar with I ask the staff. That's mentioned on joining, too - ask if you don't know.

My own experience is that the reality is that no-one remembers how to use every single thing from an induction, it's just impossible! It would take a day alone to educate someone in how to do the most popular free weight exercises let alone all the equipment.

I'm not contesting that it's not good practice to enforce inductions (esp from an H&S point of view), I'm just commenting on the added value it actually gives to members, esp those who already use gyms, or will only use free weights - the one section of a gym you can't induct effectively!

Nice try on the year pass, though!!! :D

Im got a pass, they didn't ask for a valuation letter or give me an induction. Just accepted the voucher and gave me a pass. Easy peasy.
  • Hi, I'm new,

That sounds really good that they accepted the voucher without seeing the letter, which Fitness First was this?

I really want to try this, as I can no longer find the Football Fever promotion boxes anywhere, does anyone know which supermarkets still stock them?

    Thanks
