Steps to getting an idea patented...

Hi!
I have a few ideas for products I think are marketable, and need some advice on how to best go about getting them patented (if possible).
Have googled a bit, but there seems to be a lot of middle men out to make a quick buck from my inexperience. Is there anybody out there with the know how?
Thankyou!

I'd recommend Chris Pearson at Stream IP (https://www.streamip.co.uk) - he's a specialist intellectual property barrister, but unusually young, nice, friendly and helpful for a barrister! He probably won't charge a penny for an informal chat, and will set you on the right track.
In the meantime, I can tell you that the best thing to do for the moment is to keep schtum about your product ideas, because if you do anything to 'publicise' them, you may jeopardise future registration.
Good luck!0 -
Thanks for the info. and support!
I'll look into speaking to him tomorrow, have to attend family duties today...

The solicitors at http://www.crossguard.info/ are rated very highly by a number of forum members at a small business forum and there is also a fair amount of free information on their site too.All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
