Damp - Who to call?

  • If self diagnosis fails I can recommend that you get an independent damp surveyor to assess what the problem is. They will then write a report outlining what you can do and how much it may cost. You can search here - http://www.property-care.org/

Also see here http://www.pdoyle.net/content/view/77/89/ - lots of useful info and I have also used this surveyor when we bought our house as the 'home buyer report' said silly stuff. Seems he has a southern partner which may be of interest to you. Also on his website there is a 'Your questions answered' section, where you might get some free advice

The advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I choose to remain anonymous, I have no desire to get work from anyone. No one can give 100% accurate advice on a forum if I get it wrong you'll get a sincere apology and that's all:D

I've had the book I linked in post 6 for many years now. It has enough in it for damp problem decision making. But I notice that the same author also wrote a later book just on the topic of damp and its myths.
