when i try to down load photos from my pictures I get a message on
Internet explorer has blocked active control in a unsafe manner this stoppes me from down loading phots to send as a email

I don't really understand what you're trying to do. If the pictures are already in your My Pictures folder, then there is no need to download anything.

Or is it the other way around? Are you trying to attach pictures to an email you're writing in your webmail account? Then you're trying to upload the pictures. Your webmail seems to use an ActiveX control to do this. If you click on this message in Internet Explorer (yellow bar at the top of the window) you should be able to install this ActiveX control.

To be honest, what your ESP does is not the best and safest way. First at all they exclude people who use a different browser and secondly ActiveX is one of the unsafest products from Microsoft. There have been so many security holes discovered in it in the past...

If you use webmail then you don't have a choice, you have to use the tools provided. Maybe they only use ActiveX when you use IE and use a different method when using another browser like Firefox.

download picasa from google , its free and sends email photos at click , its that easy , with all other extras it is better than 'paidfor' software ,also downloads camera video clips ect.
