talking of "slaging off" motor dealers i have just bought a used Avensis from Toyota main dealers, paid more than £14,000.00 and have discovered it has been involved in an accident. This has really peed me off especially considering I asked the salesman in it had been involved in an accident or had been damaged repaired and being told "NO it has not"0

No, that's right. I wasn't slagging off the dealer at all. I fully understand that he would pass on a charge if he incurred one. My intention was to pay by a method i.e. cash, that would mean he would not incur a charge and therefore wouldn't pass it on. If the charge is already built into his price i.e. not an additional x% on the final selling price, then if I pay by cash he should feel comfortable removing any such built in charge.
The advertised price of the car and his intended reserve would have told him what he would build into the price if that's the way he does it.
So if I pay by cash he can remove the charge.
Of course he may not have really allowed anything for such a transaction and may just be hoping he gets enough to cover his charges or the buyer doesn't pay by card. But if it was me I would have allowed a set amount and know what I could remove or I would do it, as so many do, as an additional percentage charge.

Wasn't intending having a go at anyone and sorry if I was a little blunt. Was just trying to add some insider knowledge. Many motor dealers are still in turmoil and desperate for turnover (at the sacrifice of profit in some cases) hence their should be many many bargains out there if you ask.0
