Another advantage of a urinal is that the plumbing is simpler: it doesn't need a 110mm soil pipe.

I think it's a bit unfair to condemn urinals by comparing them with ones in commercial premises. After all, they're not going be used nearly as intensively, nor is Percy going to be pointed so carelessly.

Despite all that, though, I would tend to agree that it's not a good idea, if only because people don't associate urinals with domestic properties and this sort of surprise would be enough to cause an irrational bias against your house by many when you come to sell it.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

Get one! It'll be so much fun! And you can put a wordsearch or something above it and do it every time you go!

Sharon osbourne has urinals in her house caus she was fed up with drunken ozzie not being able to aim correctly!.
  • Not related to urinals and only vaguely money-saving, but I wonder if anyone can advise:

I am seriously considering putting a second toilet in my house. (Only bathroom is accessed through one of the bedrooms!) However, I don't know if the best solution is to use a macerator or a very long soil pipe. The soil stack is at the back of the house, the toilet would be either front or middle. (Not decided yet!) Not sure of the macerator option due to noise at night, but not sure about having a 25+ foot soil pipe along an outside wall!

    Any advice? TIA!
  • Put in a second loo - it's not that difficult.

My hubby converted an unwanted fourth (tiny) bedroom into an en-suite for us, complete with shower. There were no sewage drainpipe anywhere near the room, and local plumbers were quoting in excess of £3,000 to do the job.

Hubby did it himself, using a Saniflo thing. total cost, including decoration etc = £1,500 max.

We've since had a plumber in to do some major work who was very impressed with Hubby's handiwork.

Do it yourself! You know it makes sense!

We used a saniflo macerator - it rumbles only when it's being used, which is for about 5 secs at a time.

    Go for it!

Personally I'd rather have 25' of soil pipe than a macerator. See previous thoughts at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=224939
