Hi I would very much appreciate some advice and help on my experience today when going to buy a camcorder, from a well known electrical appliance store.
I went in and approached the sales lady and explained that I was going to Disneyland Paris next week with my 2 kids and that I'd like to purchase a camcorder but knew nothing about them and needed some help.
We proceeded to the very minimal camcorder display and I explained that the 2 main must have's were that I wanted to video the evening parades and that night filming mode(whatever it's called) needed to be one of the musthaves, the other was that I wanted the hard drive not the older styles or memory card only,
she didnt really appear to know much as she kept going to the pc to check out the spec's but said that the Panasonic SDR-T55EB-K would be the best one for the job, stating that I didn't necessarily need an additional memory card, spec was good and that I would be able to film the night parades no probs,
she also stated that it was better than the other sony's and that if I had a flatscreen tv I would be able to play it back on my tele as it had all the High Def built into the camcorder, I did explain that it was a bit above budget at £229.99 but she said that it was originally £399.99 and had been heavily discounted and that the others were not even originally in that price range also that if I took out the additional 3 year service plan( drops, spills etc) I could bring it up to £300 and go for the 6 month interest free finance, Job done I thought... being the last one left in the shop and passing all credit etc I left a happy bunny ready to go on wednesday next week to collect it when it arrived in store.
I came home and looked online at the reviews and get to grips with any online manuals and when I clicked into the shop's website to read up on it the spec says that it does NOT have night filming mode, nor is it High def and also says that I may need to consider a memory card as I will need this to record any video footage!!!
I was ever so slightly fuming and now have to spend my only day off tomorrow driving back to this store, I specifically mentioned filming the night parades at Disney being my number 1 priority!
If anyone can do me a kindness and read the review on this camcorder and give me some advice I would be really greatful, I feel a bit HAD!!! but I wasn't to know as I did explain that I knew nothing about them and needed help, I would also be eternally greatful if anyone could suggest any of the other camcorders on comutt(oops) website similar to the one I have been sold as then I can nip back tomorrow and maybe change to a lower priced one with similar spec, or failing that spend a few quid more to get the right one that will film the parades at night without struggling with the dark.
Cheers ahead of time SSM(Single stressed mum!!!)

It isn't hi-def ,it's 640x480 maximum, pretty poor today, battery life isn't good either.
JVC GZ-MS215BEK at £199.99 with 8gb card (£10-£13 on internet-don't buy from comet) and supposedly good night filming. Better battery life but don'y know what type battery is -find this out. Web price only ???? Miss extended warranty, get home contents insurance.
Can't find any real reviews of this model -made for comet only I think.
I wouldn't buy from comet as never real bargains in my opinion, tho' have in the past.
If you buy online you have 7 days to change your mind.
Try and get refund as low video resolution. Only 3 results in google shopping.Odd.
Google is your friend- before you buy!!!0 -
You've been mugged off, although I doubt there was any intention on the salesgirls part to have you over (at least not at a personal level anyway).
Get your money back on the basis it doesn't do what you asked for or what the salesgirl said it would, then tell us what you want from a camcorder and how much your budget is.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0
