Hi, i,m a newbie here but have been lurking for a few weeks:; and would like some advice, we were thinking of getting our garage converted, but the problem is we are link detatched, and our garage is joined to next doors garage, and an estate agent informed me that if we did this and if our neighbours also did this , which they are talking about doing, we would become an end terrace , they are semi detatched, this sounds strange , does anyone know if this is right , as we would,nt want to go from link detatched to terrace . this does,t seem right to me , any help greatly appreciated , thanks, julie .:D

A terrace is adjoined from top to bottom, yours will only have a single story garage which you wish to convert only. Now if you both decided to extend up and join together you would become semi-detached... A terrace is a row of houses joined together.....
I have nothing better to do!!!!

Hi thanks for your reply, i think he said terrace because, next doors house is a semi , but we don,t really want to go from detached to semi or terraced , but as you said it would not be joined at the top , only by the garages , it,s so confusing.startrekker wrote:A terrace is adjoined from top to bottom, yours will only have a single story garage which you wish to convert only. 'Adjacent detached properties which do not have a party wall, but which are linked by the garage(s) and so forming a single frontage.' is the definition i found from wikapedia for Link Detched.
I think the key part is 'linked by garges' which you would no longer be."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0
