Local furniture project set to close
Options
Hi,
I have supported a local charity 'Green Ventures' for several years now. They were set up to collect and sell unwanted furniture at a economical price to migrant workers, people on low incomes and benefits. All monies went back into project.
Recent times they have struggled purely down to running costs.
Now they are to close with the loss of three jobs.
Wish there was something I could do, get funding, donations, sponsors?
Kev

Sad as this may be, ultimately its the trustees' responsibility to ensure there are sufficient resources to continue the work of this cahrity. Either they have decided its not a sustainable project or they are not capaable of managing it!0

Most projects like this need funding, as there is no real profit and costs have overtaken sales.
I had hoped they could ebay items collected for extra revenue but uptake has been slow and the trustees have decided to reduce losses by closing it.
Several factors have contributed to its problems, its location, its size and three day opening.
Wish there was something I could do

Have they asked for help from the local CVS?0

CVS? can you explain0
-
Google your town or borough and CVS - they are charities which provide support to front line charities.0

I know a similar project where the insurance costs have risen dramatically.
Reason someone made a claim when getting a cut hand from splinters when cleaning the underside of a drawer.0
