god
So today is payday
I have an outstanding balance of 18.78 on my b/card. then I can close the little devil .This card has been like a lead weight I was kindly given this with a 350 limit at uni, when I graduated it went up to 550. and It just hung about like a manky smell. Ive had this card ALMOST 10 years to the day
Through overpayments and sheer bloodymindedness I am now ready to close it. So I call them up, they wont take a debit card payment as Ive already paid my payment for this month  . i know many b/card people will know this, in fact im sure Ive moaned about this before, but HELLS BELLS its so bad how they PREVENT you paying off extra debt. I thnik there should be a law against this. So now I have to get my act together and go down the bank to clear it, then I can close it. Fine I dont mind that much but its the principle innit!!!!!!

They are talking rubish they can and will take a card payment over the phone to shut an account. I would phone back on the freephone number and ask for a manager then tell them what they can do with their card.
They just don't want to lose you as a customer, so in a way its a compliment. Well done on getting rid of it.Barclaycard 3800

well I phoned up and they said No. they wouldnt allow me to make any payment as my card isnt "registered" and they dont want it to be fraud. they wouldnt let me speak to a manger saying 2im the account manager"
I pointed out that 18.29 is not an international money laundering saga, im settling my bill
God Im furious.
She said "your think wed want to take your money off you wouldnt you" I said "well no, you want to keep people in debt and despair thats how you make your money isnt it" and then put the phone down

Yes its true. We owed £118 and they tried to stop us paying it off. Well I raised hell as I wanted rid of it. The outcome was they took the £100 off the card and voided the rest. Be careful though as the next month they send a bill 43p I think for interest so I phoned up again and that was it sorted. Now DH has no barclaycard, I still do but will get erid of it after C1 is paid off.Barclaycard 3800

i tell you what what a horrible company they are as well. its like the people on the phone are like stepford robots, no we cant do that, no you need to do something else.
Im dragging them through the courts on charges too, illegal in every sense of the word.
they told me they would close the account even thouh I still owed them. I was like, you could have done that years ago muppets. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

write them a cheque for the outstanding balance and pop it in an envelopw tieh a strongly worded letter and their card cut up into small pieces (mind and write your numbers on the letter/cheque before you cut it up), send it recorded delivery and viola no more b/card! :j0

ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON!
Well done."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

you will almost certainly find that even if you pay the full amount this month, there will still be a small amount of interest next month...you have to reduce the balance to zero on two months running to actually clear the card.0
