Rightmove - "Parking"

Not sure if it's just the area I'm looking at but there seems to be an annoying trend for EAs to mark a property as having "parking" when the only parking is "on road". IMO if it doesn't have off road parking (drive or allocated) then it shouldn't be allocated to the "parking" category.

  • It may be becuase, in some areas, you can't park on the road. Increasingly in central London, new residential units have a legal agreement to be "car free", and no access to residents' parking.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

Ir isn't only London where its happening though, the house next to my grandparents house is up for sale and says parking. I was shocked to see this but the estate agent explained there is on street parking.

What happens then if the local council decide to put double yellow lines down ?
  • I agree, the parking filter is rubbish. They should have an offstreet parking filter and a garage filter.

Surely 99% of people when selecting "parking" want a property with off street parking.

I wish the filters were more detailed in general... they're all pretty rubbish.. and rely on the honesty of the person doing the listing, which half the time leaves a lot to be desired, too.

Wish they had some way of differentiating between off-street/on-street/permit parking in the filters.

Had a great one today - the agent's managed to compose an entire paragraph praising and revering... a CELLAR!!! (it actually warrants three exclamation marks in the description as well it's such an exciting find)

I saw an interesting interpretation of off-road parking.

Did the property have a driveway? No
So maybe there is a garage block nearby? No
How about a designated parking space nearby? No

There happened to be a free public car park at the end of the road.
