I'd like to try and get some still images from some home movies which I've got on DVD's.
Is there any simple to use software available? (preferably cheap/free) Tried google but it's not being very helpful today.

Some media players such as VLC have a 'snapshot' button.
So you pause the video and take a snapshot.
Saves it as a jpg or png file.
VLC is from here:-http://www.videolan.org/Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
as an extra option I use AVS DVD player which is free, and has a snapshot button.
