How to fix a leaking gutter?

About 3 years ago I had a new wooden gutter fitted (mid terrace).
When the roofer fitted it he cut about 6" into the neighbours gutter to fit it. I've recently noticed that it's dripping where the sections join.
In a couple of weeks I've got a builder/decorator coming who will be painting the outside walls. I'm thinking of making a phone call to him along the lines of "While you're up there.....gutters....."
Assuming that he's willing to do it what's the best way to fix them? May also ask him to clean/line the whole gutter. Is it worth it after 3 years?

" wooden gutter " that is new one to me. ??
To make a quick seal in a gutter use something like this:

I've never heard of wooden gutters but i think i'd try to fix a joint in a similar way that old cast iron or modern plastic gutters would be joined.
I'd look for a small piece of rubber, maybe a bike inner tube and cut it to fit between the two sections of gutter, you'd need then to squeeze it, perhaps drill the gutters and put small nuts and bolts to tighten the sections together. Don't forget to put rubber washes on both sides of the nut and bolt.
I think any of these quick-fix that you paint on out of a tin will be no more than a temporary remedy.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

For the joints use lead to slide under each of yours and neighbours slate/roof tiles and bend into shape into the two gutters thats what we have on our house and never leaks
I have seen woodern gutters although I think they are rare0 -
For doing gutters to stop them leaking the way way is use bitumen paint it looks like black paint and drys like paint but unlike normal paint is waterproof I did my gutters last year and fixed leak between joints of cast iron guttering depsite using a mastic for the purpose it still leaked and biutmen paint fixed it hasnt leaked since I applied 2 coats takes a couple of days and gutter needs cleaning out and drying before painting0

I could be mistaken about the troughing being made of wood but it certainly looks like it. I'm sure I saw my old one when it was removed as well.
Thanks for the replies anyway. It sounds like a job that a competent builder can do. (last job I needed doing I was recommended a professional roofer rather than using a general builder)0
