Should I buy the bike now or later?
Hi Folks,
Kinda cycle related, I've seen a bicycle that is discounted by £500 and is now £1650. This is due to the new model coming out very soon. The nice man in the shop has told me the only difference in the two bikes is the colour, should I buy it now on my credit card at 0% interest until March or wait until March/April by which time I would have been able to save the amount needed.
Btw the bike would get a lot of use as I currently ride 150-200 miles a week and will be entering competitions next year.
Thanks

You should wait until you have the money but at 0% (are they still around?) then it won't really matter.0

And what if the new bike is different in more than colour? I must be a bit out of touch if a manufacturer can model change by colour.
Maybe I am too cynical, but of course the seller will minimise any changes. He would rather have your money now than later.0 -
£1650 for a push bike?Nothing to see here, move along.0

£1650 is middle of the road for a mountain bike.Happy chappy0

It's pretty middle of the road for a road bike, too.
Could be just a colour change for the new model. Manufacturers tend to change the livery every year, but the bike may stay the same for a couple of years.
It's discounted now as the 2011 models will be becoming available and bike shops will want to shift old stock. If you don't buy it now, it may well not still be for sale in 6mnths time.0 -

and we will never, ever return.0 -
Do you want / need it now? If not don't buy. Over winter there will be a.n.other deals available.
You could contact manufacturer and ask them what changes will be introduced on the new model."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Ride hard or stay home :iloveyou:0 -
If you bike a lot, buy it now and enjoy it.Are you really going to get that much more enjoyment from the newer model?
I'm not into cycling but for me to justify spending the extra money on the new model I'd want to see significant jumps forward in technology.I don't think there's much more they can do with bikes really as they seem to have everything upgraded on them these days anyway.0 -
I'd buy it now seeing as you have the 0% option.

Enjoy your bike.0
