Experian Rep Please Answer Question

Wrinkles I do find it a bit unfair holding an employee of a large organisation responsible for all that company does. Also the government have not finally legislated on the new ways (as far as I am aware of its just ideas) of tackling benefit fraud so anything the gentleman says now really with respect is a bit meaningless.0

By the way, the Official Company Representative blurb is provided by MSE not me. I do check these forums most days, certainly when I'm in the office, to see if there's anything I can help with Experian-related, but I'm not on here all day. We are looking to set up some alerts going forwards which will help me spot threads I can help with more quickly.“Official Company Representative
I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

I really don't see how we could do that and it is certainly not what is being discussed.“Official Company Representative

With respect he is the company rep , it is only fair that we can ask pertinant questions of him i in no way hold him personally responsible for anything , as for the government , they have gone out of their way to inform the nation of their intentions , in a free society it is right that we should debate on this subject , they have actively encouraged us to do so .Wrinkles I do find it a bit unfair holding an employee of a large organisation responsible for all that company does. Yes they have there is a government website where you can vote on ways of sorting out the defecit, which is a good way of discussing it.
I feel questions to do with credit histories and advice rather than company policy, other interests they have is more beneficial to the people of this forum and I would hate to loose such direct anon advice from a rep.0 -
You answered the question after some deliberation , As a polititian would , Do you think that it is wrong that some people feel very uneasy about your company , many feel that Experian is becoming too powerfull , it is expanding into dangerous territory, almost becoming a government department ,Experian_company_representative wrote: »I really don't see how we could do that and it is certainly not what is being discussed.GRADUATED FIRST CLASS WITH HONORS FROM THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS RECOMENDED READ IF BY RUDYARD KIPLING0 -
You are wrong , ex rayday , the people of this country have every right to question what the polititians , and company reps are up to if this goes ahead it is one more freedom that is lost ,we are fast becoming a country where everyone will be under surveilance 24 hours a day , Experian will continue to expand uncontrollably, maybe becoming a government department ,It appears George Orwell was correct after all .Yes they have there is a government website where you can vote on ways of sorting out the defecit, which is a good way of discussing it.

I have been looking in to what you have been saying about Equifax being linked to Wescot Credit Services and I can not say if it is true or not - but it appears that in the past that Equifax Europe Limited was formerly known as Westcot Data Limited which was a credit reference agency as they are now.
This name change may have taken place in the early 90'sI am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0 -
Now I see where you're coming from Wrinkles.
For a while in the 1980s there were three UK credit reference agencies: CCN (renamed Experian in the 90s), Infolink and Westcott Data. At some stage the US firm Equifax bought Infolink. Westcott Data was also acquired by either Infolink or Equifax (sorry, not sure about the timing). There remained just two CRAs until Callcredit came along around 2000. History lesson over!
However, I don't believe there is any link between Westcott Data and the current Westcot Credit Services. Certainly nothing to do with Experian anyway, apart from the fact that they are Experian clients.“Official Company Representative
