James“Official Company Representative
I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

We are a data company and one of our business lines is operating the UK's main CRA. By DCA do you mean debt collection agency? I don't think we own one of those.

Westcott do use our data/services (DCAs can access CRA data to help collect debt in a responsible and informed way) but it's certainly not an Experian company.

My scource is positive , i will double check with him and see if i can provide evidence , question no . two . It has been reported in the news that Experian is to be used by the government to examine its records to find bennefit claimants who apear to have more spending power than they should , will Experian be involved with the likes of Tesco , and examine clubcard members grocerie bills to see if they are spending too much .Experian_company_representative wrote: »Westcott do use our data/services (DCAs can access CRA data to help collect debt in a responsible and informed way) but it's certainly not an Experian company.

No. I guess government could access retailer loyalty databases under relevant legislation to investigate crime, but we certainly don't have access to that data. We could only access that data if Tesco, for example, obtained your permission to share the data with us when you take out a Clubcard.“Official Company Representative

Are you categorically stating that the government( who as you say have the power to do this) will not pass information they obtain by whatever means to yourselves in the hunt for bennefit claimants they suspect of spending too much .Experian_company_representative wrote: »No. I guess government could access retailer loyalty databases under relevant legislation to investigate crime, but we certainly don't have access to that data.
