Please help before I scream...it;s driving me up the wall!
We just got the PS3 Slim but both the boys have a user on the old PS3 with all their COD data on that needs transferring.
We've followed all the instructions, deactivated the one system, attached the Ethernet cable (yellow one we got with the broadband router) and it keeps flipping saying that the ethernet cable isn't connected, please someone help me before I chuck something through the window it is so flipping annoying!

I could be wrong, but ive never heard of transferring from one PS3 to the other
You can 'back up' to an external hardrive (Ive done this myself)
Assuming you mean COD ONLINE then using the same username and password on the new PS3 should work fine (Saved 'online' stats etc are saved online, not on the PS3):idea:0 -
Yeah it's the COD online that's the most important but they each have a sign in name on the old PS3 so don't know how that works:
for example my partner has one online COD name
then the little one has another COD name.Wins 2010 (holiday pretty please!): Jan:BlueReefAquariumTicket!Feb: TottenhamTeamMascotExperience!Mar: AvonPerfume£100YatesbartabAltonTowersbreak!Apr: - May: BicSoleilRazor June:2OdeonTickets BicRazorAgainHippHamperHamper July:HairAwards2010 Products!Aug:Nothing Sep: Nothing:( Oct: DailyMail£250!0 -

Couldn’t you just put their save data on a usb key and then copy over to the new machine? Sign into the slim ps3 using their normal id and password and copy the data into the relevant place under game saves etc. Then when they go online it should verify the information and as long as its in the correct place should be fine.
On the ps3 system if i can remember (im not at home) there is something called Data Transfer Utility and i believe its for this kind of thing.0 -
i thought the data is saved on the COD servers for data about multiplayer profile & game data is on PS3 where its eaisest to do full back up and upload0

There is a problem with the current Firmware which gives the cable not connected message. Go here http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/support/system-software/detail/item295396/Update-features-%28ver-3-41%29/ and download the latest firmware. On a USB stick create a folder named PS3, then within that folder another named UPDATE. Copy the firmware into the UPDATE folder and then connect the stick to the PS3. On the PS3 go to System Update and update via storage media. The PS3 will say it's the same firmware it has already got but update anyway. The Data Transfer Utility should then work.0
