Can I ask a very silly question????

Have just got a router to set up a wireless network at home. Here's the silly question........do I have to have 1 pc permanently plugged in to the router before i can go wireless with my laptop??? Sorry for being such a useless idiot!!!!!

No, you don't need a PC permanently wired to the router. Just have a wired connection to initially set up wireless security.

Do Wireless Modem/Router combinations have to be connected to at least one PC via an Ethernet cable?


To set the Modem/Router up it is necessary to connect it via an ethernet wire to a computer. Once the hardware has been set up though there is no need to have it connected to any computer with wires.

Thoughrt so....have set it up via a wired connection but it just won't connect wirelessly, no matter what i do!!! Any tips from anyone much appreciated!!
