The £349 Dell would appear IMO to be the better bet even if you have a reasonably good monitor. The 19" Dell monitor included in the £349 price seems to gor for about £130 on ebay, making the net cost of the machine approx £220 delivered. Anyone?
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!
  • Yep the dell deal is the better option. While you will have to deal with the useless indians should anything go wrong, things are normally dealt with adequetely in the end.

Some of the reviews above sound less than complementary.

Dell machine with a 19" TFT is a better option in my opinion. Good quality PC, BUT it will not have an AGP or PCI-E slot so less likely to be of use to someone who wants to play games. But if you want to play games you wouldn't buy either of these machines anyway.

  • First poster !

They also have one on their Auction site Morgan Auction Emachine
  • If you do not need a DVD writer then this is a better deal. It is a P4 not a Celeron and has much more memory, though smaller hard drive.

It was on another thread on here, not sure how to link to them?

  • I think there's a lot of naievity wrt what "factory reworked" means.

Do you really think any manafacturer is going to do any investigative work on a 'problem' PC that's been returned costing as little as this. In truth, if something is returned, it'll sit in a pile in the corner of a warehouse....prior to been cleared out under the banner "reconditioned" !!
  • Surely a "factory reworked" should just be formatted and have a fresh copy of Windows XP put on it?

....and 99% of it appears to belong to you ;)

It does not mean that the machine has been sitting broken in a corner for months - it should have been professionally rebuilt to "as new" quality. If it's not worth rebuilding a £300 PC then they wouldn't make them in the first place.
    Can I help?
  • I personally think that E Machines computer will be better in the long run as the motherboard has more expansion capabilities(like PCI express).

The X300 level integrated graphics are also superior to what the Dell has also.

Also you can pick up a decent generic widescreen monitor like a Hannstar HW191D for 120- 130 quid. It is an excellent monitor(I know someone who has one) for the money!
