Obviously you did....What you are doing is moaning on an internet forum instead of doing something to change the situation you are in.
What situation? What does this mean? Instead of ignoring what I said and going for the whole personal "Im looking after my family, I suggest you do to" belittleing rubbish.....try reading what I say....Graham_Devon wrote: »I'm not moaning, I have it relatively easy compared to some. I'm just making a point. It can't all be done, not when you are the average bloke in the street.
All I was doing is raising a point. I'm not sure how my generation, which I doubt is the same as yours, is supposed to do everything considering all I said. I also never said every single person as you infer I did. I purposely made a point of describing who I was talking about, also ignored.0 -

You are being impossible today.
I didn't ignore what you said, I said I was in the same generation as you.
Doesn't mean I agree that all our generation are in the situation you are and think everyone else is.
DG made a generalisation and most importantly pointed out that he had it easier than most people.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Well I am just about to come out of early retirement and as I understand it, at the moment lecturers have to retire at 65, I really hope they change that and I have the chance to work longer (I'm 52 now)Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0

Why did they make you retire?
I know quite a few older people who worked past their official retirement age, particularly women, because as far as they were concerned they are healthy and have no need to retire now.
OK quite a few of them don't work full-time but do enough to keep them busy.
Unless you are doing heavy manual work or are in a job where you get attacked by the public then there is no need to retire early. Though nowadays people tend not to do the same job for life.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Nobody made me retire I retired early at about 44 (8 years ago), but I really feel the need to be doing something, hence my new career in lecturing (previously I was a chartered surveyor). I think I will find lecturing really rewarding, I am financially independant and I am doing it for satisfaction not money.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
My personal thought is that when they set the retirement age they should have linked it to the average life expectancy. Every time that goes up 6 months, add on 6 months to the pension age.
I also think women should have a higher, not lower retirement age than men for this reason.
Flame away :eek:0 -
I know there is probably a darn good reason, but why do women have an earlier retirement age anyway?
I thought we were all supposed to be equal nowadays?0 -
Trouble is because of the scummy bankers my pension is going to be worth half of what it should be  :mad:Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Why because of the bankers (unless you'd big shareholdings in RBOS and HBOS)?0 -

They presume it's because women:
1. Most women didn't work and married older husbands, so to help the couples budget they made women's retirement age lower
2. Women where considered weaker so the women who worked where allowed to retire early.Graham_Devon wrote: »I thought we were all supposed to be equal nowadays?
All the women your age are going to retire the same time as you i.e. never.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
