House Insurance

I am currently paying £1,000 a year for house insurance, I have looked at the suggestions and followed most of those and get problems with mass searches as a large house and currently unlimited contents.
Can anyone help? (£75,000 contents is not enough)

Try Hiscox for extraordinary cover.
I pay £630 for high value contents and valuables.
They have a single item limit of £15K which is good.
Also valuables are insured anywhere in the world so no stupidly low personal possessions limits either.
You will need to know your level of valuables though.
You also might need certain locks and an annually serviced alarm.
We have to get our alarm service now, but I don't mind that.
They do quotes on-line and give an introductory discount.
They automatically include everything you need - like garden contents, bicycles, legal cover, accidental damage, personal possessions, so you don't have to add on loads of options.
I haven't had to claim, but I'd definitely recommend from everything I've heard.0 -

I personally wouldnt touch Home and Legacy. yes they offer the cover levels the OP has suggested he needs but Ive never a decent service form them.
Hiscox and Chubb come recomended by many although you may need a specialist broker to access them im not sure if they have a direct arm. Aviva and Zurich certainly have mid to high networth offerings.
If your paying £1000 a year my first reaction is ensure you have the right levels of cover, be carefull if you move form blanket unlimited covers sto specified sums insured that you dont under insure.0 -
Halifax also offers Unlimited coverage on core buildings and contentsI am a Mortgage Adviser

I did an inventory room by room.
I also have a jewelry inventory.
Some things I guessed (I didn't price up every cd or book individually).
So for example I guessed the value of my clothes, books and cds.
I think that's acceptable as long as you are realistic and cautious.
I can't see anyone counting their socks & pants :-)
But going round room by room, does help you to include what you have, otherwise I think it's very easy to forget items like - pictures mirrors and all the stuff you have in your kitchen (coffee maker, food processor, microwave).
It's obviously better to over insure than under insure.
I'm very happy with the cover I have from Hiscox.0
