oh another question to the OP, is there any specific programs you HAVE to use and couldnt live without?
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

Yes there is irony in recommending PC world, but my comment about there refurbs does stand, you can gte good specs for less money and the 5 I have seen have all been as new.

With that for less than £200 bigpockets have some excellent recon machines which there is a good chance they better than the old Dell.

  • It would be illegal for the OP to get a cracked, slimmed down copy of Windows XP from down the market, so I'd better not suggest she do that, then format the hard drive, and re-install Windows. Because that would be illegal.

In a world where it were not illegal, doing that, then using Google Chrome as a browser would be a might fine idea. Working well on my ten year old laptop.

But you will have the same or a worse level of service. In addition, some of the brands are to be avoided...and more so, I've not seen any particularly good deals. Maybe you can link to one or two.

I will admit that my view of PC world service is good, they delivery when they say and stuff works.

Saying that I know what I am doing with computers, likewise you need to know what you are looking at as many of the refurb deals don't save much.

So maybe its not the best of ideas for everybody.

Sure Asda had a good deal on a lenovo recently.

i think thats a bit over the top hethmar, op clearly is on a very tight budget and yet your showing things where you have to spend over £1000

lets wait to see what specs the current system is

Apologies, have to say I was doing that with one hand as I entered an appointment in my diary with a customer who was on the phone :(- didnt notice what I was actually copying and pasting, just saw the word discount. Dell have very few systems that expensive!

Topcashback is offering 5% cash back on any Dell I believe.
