Outlook Express Compacting

Options
I am regularly prompted to compact OE on exiting, however, every time I click yes it goes through the proceedure and then shows a dialogue box saying "this folder is currentlu in use by another application". I am worried that I may lose emails if the compacting is not done, can anyone help?

Don't worry, you shouldn't lose any emails. Compacting just means that they will take up less space on your hard disk. I haven't used Outlook Express myself for a while, but I seem to remember there being a menu option to compact files. You could try that, perhaps after restarting OE.
