Broken Indesit dishwasher just outside guarantee

Hi, i'm fairly new to this site but I wouldnt mind a bit of advice if anyone can help.
I have an Indesit dishwasher that effectively broke 3 days after the 1 year guarantee had expired (so 1 year and 3 days after purchase). The fault was the plastic latch that holds the door closed. An engineer replaced it yesterday so all is ok now.
I initially wrote to Currys (who were actually very helpful and efficient at first) who immediately elevated the issue to their "medics" team. I argued that they were liable for the cost of the repair as the dishwasher has not shown sufficient "durability" which is a statutory right under the sales of goods act. They then organised an engineer from Indesit to repair the dishwasher, but I had to pay £75 which they promised would be refunded if it proved to be a manufacturing fault.
So the enginner came yesterday and replaced the flimsly plastic latch in the door that doesnt even look strong enough to hold a cardboard box closed. It took him all of 5 minutes and even said he "replaces these all the time". I tried to get him to write a short report citing a manufacturing fault but he wouldnt.
He has now sent a report to Currys saying the repair comes under "wear and tear" so apparently not a manufacturing or inherant fault. Therefore hard luck and no refund for the repair.
Now the dishwasher has been looked after (we havent been rough with it) and has only been used once a day, so I dont agree. I think a critical component like this should be durable for much longer than 1 year and that normal "wear and tear" shouldnt cause it to fail so soon.
What does everyone think?

you could cite it as a 'manufacturing defect' which is such a flimsy latch.0

Send a recorded letter to Indesit and ask them to pay the £75 to Currys. Just 3 days out of warranty is ridiculous! When did you take delivery of the goods? It is my understanding the 1yr runs from when you received your goods not when you actually bought them i.e. in the shop, could have taken 7 days to deliver!Regards,

Codswallop, after 6 months it is the user to get a report to say so. The fact the guarantee ran out is immaterial.
(Should have gone to JL, they give a 5 years guarantee)0 -
