How do E.ON discounts work then?

We have recently switched to a dual fuel supply from E.On.

The paperwork states the amount per KWh, but another section states the discounts we get for the online tarriff, for Direct Debit and for dual fuel.

What I'm wondering it, are the unit prices they quote inclusive or exclusive of the stated discounts?

For example, say I use 1000 KWhs at 25p per unit - that's going to be £25.

If I have a 25% combined discount, do E.On then deduce the 25% and give me a gross bill of £18.75 before they tack on the VAT?

    Hello Fiddlestick,

Sorry for the confusion, let me try and explain. The prices and discounts you have been quoted are separate. Any unit prices we quote are always exclusive of any extra discount you will receive.

When billing your account we multiply your kWh usage by the unit prices, then subtract any discount, and finally add on VAT.

    Thanks

Magic, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear.

Could you maybe raise it internally that this distinction should be made a little bit more explicit on your paperwork?

I looked but couldn't see this explained anywhere.
