slimming clubs

Hi there. I'm thinking of joining slimming world/weight watchers etc and am looking from any feedback from people who have joined any of these

Would appreciate some more info for example, what a meeting consists of, how much it costs, are there any joining offers on at the moment etc. I live in Glasgow if that makes any difference.

Also just wondering - i'm a vegetarian so would these types of diets still be suitable for me?

Many thanks!

Both diets woud be suitable, and both meetings follow a similar format...

Pay and weigh, then a talk about food or things going on like if it's summer picnincs and bbq's or how to stay on track when socialising etc....

have done both and got on better with WW personaly - but know people who absolutly swear by slimming world...

they both work as ong as you stick with them long enough to ose the weight you want too....

I stuck to neither for ong enough and have just gone to hypnotherapy...

so good luck which ever you choose

  • have a browse through the Slimming World MSE thread - although be warned it is eather long!

I am veggie and do SW. I do green days only, which means unlimited pasta/rice/pots/fruit/veg/eggs plus you have allocated amounts of calcuim/fibre rich things. I have had success in the past (losing 2+stone) and have recently started back, but I do it at home myself rather than go to classes. This is a cost factor for me. I think the classes are around £5/wk which equals the cost of my gym membership so I thought it would be better to pay for gym than class as can't afford both. And I work funny hours smetimes so classes not practical some of the time.

    HTH and good luck

I'm veggie and do SW green days - brilliant!
I've done both WW and SW, both work but I was hungry on WW, on SW there is always something you can eat.

WW you have to count fruit and a lot of veg which I don't think is very good, on SW it's free food. Have a look at the websites, SW you can download an eating plan which might give you some ideas.

I go to classes and buy a countdown so pay for 5 weeks and get a 6th free.

    Hi

I am deciding which one to join and wondered if anyone could tell me if either is more suitable for Type 2 diabetes. Plus how long is a reasonable time to allow to see if a plan is working before moving groups ?

    Thanks.

because you choose the food you eat both plans are suitabe.

They don't give you a diet to follow as in - eat x for breakfast, x for lunch etc...

they give you guideines to follow and you chose food within those guidlines.

    hope that makes sense.

if you follow the plans you will have success - I woud say 4 - 6 weeks you will see satisfactory results and know if you are happy to continue.

    Good luck
