I am furious!!
I have just phoned direct line to change my car insurance and when I asked them to remove my husbands name from the insurance as we are now separated they increased my quote by over £30 as I "no longer qualified for 2nd driver discount".
I queried this as its not a 2nd car discount its just a discount for having an named driver on your policy. This is ridiculous!! Penalised for being single.
I phoned round other companies but unfortunately they were still the cheapest so I have told them we are back together and put him back on - well at least he's useful for one thing!!

Why is it ridiculous?

Why should you have a discount if someone else uses your car too? I'd have thought that'd cost more, if anything??
It's only a game

All comes down to claims most insurers offer a discount for married couples as they are a less a risk ie they have less claims.0

I think all Insurers rate a single policyholder as a slightly higher risk. This has always been the case as far I am aware.
It must be all the claims they receive for damage to interior, back seat ripped, heel marks in roof lining etc !!!! (lol)The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
