OH MY... At those prices it maybe better to order the garlic and onions from Harrods and have them delivered by a man in a suit.

4 Bulbs cost me £2 + I bought 2 bulbs from Sainsbury's for less than £1 to see which performed better.

Onions i bought last year were 99p for 200/250g Depending on type & where you get them from.

  • Sorry I did not make it clear it is a collection of garlics:
Including:- 2 Albigensian Wight bulbs, 2 Chesnock Wight bulbs and 8 Elephant cloves.

I think it is a great deal and I like the idea of enjoying the differences between the varieties - 12 for £10

and the onions was an offer of 250 gr which I think is a deal!

I had particular success with Red Baron, grown from seed, this year. It grew easily, was ready for harvesting before I expected and has kept extremely well. I'd strongly recommend it.

I have recently moved house and have a much more interesting garden than i did before. Now i am more excited and motivated to grow my own veggies. I want to start with garlic as i do use it often. Just a couple of questions please as i am very new.
    • can the garlic bulbs be frozen whole or in cloves? In bags or containers?
    • could i also freeze them crushed in ice cube trays?
    • when is the best time to start planting them? Can they be grown on the kitchen window sill?
I think thats about it for now lol. I am looking forward to my first crop. Can't wait.

    Thanks for any help.
    Tina ;)

I was in Wilkinsons yesterday and picked up bags of onion bulbs reduced from £2 to 10p. They had bags of white, and of red, and mixed, and shallots
