Recovering settees. Would you recommend?

:)We have two settees and a chair. THey are about 17 years old now and in reasonable condition although a bit faded now and could do with restuffing.

Been looking at replacing but not seen anything we like as much in style. I know it is very expensive to recover, re spring and the like but has anyone out there any experience of having it done?

We had it done a year or so ago. The sofa cost £1800 originally, and cost £1000 to recover, which is obviously very expensive, but we did it because the sofa cost so much in the first place and had been specially made. It's a difficult one to call. I tend to think it's not worth it though.

most upholstered furniture sold these days, is complete rubbish.
pretty much waste of time in re-upholstering em. itll certainly cost twice as much as the item is worth.

We had our done. Cost £500 - but the upholsterer was a friend so we got a good rate.
Big benefit is you can choose your own cloth rather than having to rely on what the furniture shops sell.
It's probably the more eco-friendly option too.
