Totally agree, Krakow is something special, beautiful place, incredible history, truly a fabulous place to visit.

We were there a couple of weeks ago and it was far warmer than at home.

Wizz Air was a pretty decent experience no frills/no thrills. Nice leather seats and attractive staff!

    not surprised there so cheap!!

There all coming over to our country to live and not going back!

Not wanting to offend anyone, but it is true. Is there anywhere decent to visit in Poland then? I heard it's just very cold and like stepping back to the 1930's.

And much harder working than we are ;)

That's why they are getting jobs, there is no shortage of work here, only a shortage of people who want to work

Lazy b@st@rds get paid too much to sit at home and complain ... or go the pub and complain...:wall: and we pay for them to do it ... and then complain about people coming here who want to work ?

I'm sick of hearing people put down Polish, Iraqi, Kurdish, Russian etc if i was working with any of these in a manual job i would be much happier than working with a lazy british git who was waiting for teabreak....:D

I don't mean to condescend by the way... thats the only way i would work with these people.......i'm far too stupid to meet a professional from any of the above

But i would love to meet an eastern european lady , met loads on holiday, most of them stunningly beautiful but i can't speak Rusky

Mods i expect my posts will be removed tomorrow but just trying to be fair here
  • A lot of Polish and other European people have been used by my employees and I have to agree that they want to work more than most of the local youngsters that come and go in our place. So from personal experience I would say they are not taking our jobs but making manufacturing a more attractive proposition for company's to open up here. I have seen a lot of leaflets about today advertising National Express trips to Poland from £49.95.(Might be Xmas trips back home). Might see if I can make a leaflet for the notice board with this offer.
    Thanks

A recent BBC surveay indicated that a goodly percentage of the Eastern European workers here share rooms with non spouse/partner in shared rented accomm. This is how they can save or remit money home.

UK locals would not want to disrupt their settled lifrestyles to compete! This is changing the UK employment scene. Probably benefits the already well-off & educated at the expense fo the poorer & less well organized among us. I wonder where the govt was when all this was happening.

You probably heard it from the same place that you heard:

The usual generalisations that come up time and time again, in scaremongering newspapers that are only really interested in promoting their own circulation. This is going to sound like a rant, but I hear comments like the one above so often (in fact there's even someone whingeing on the same subject as I type this) that it gets my goat.

If I spoke enough of the Language, I'd be going the other way because I could retire there right now, instead of having to wait unitl I'm near dead to be able to afford it. As a rule, the people are friendly and helpful (of course there are exceptions), it's got some beautiful places (cities and countryside) as well as some dreadful industrialised areas (but then not many countries don't).

There are a lot of Polish people here, because economically they are better off. At home they currently have massive unemployment caused by the change to the Western style economy. I'm confident that this will change as the country gets back on it's feet (you should see how fast it's changing) and prospects are better 'back home'. When they are working, they contribute to the economy by paying tax, using shops and so on, and (again with exceptions) they are more consciensous workers than other cultures. The jobs market is always open to competition, so why shouldn't companies have the choice to hire those prepared to do the job better?

I know a fair few British graduates who have to do that too because housing prices are so high. Maybe we should be looking at rip-off landlords instead.
