If We Move In Together?

Hi,
I receive Council Tax benefit, Incapacity Benefit and DLA at low rate mobility and middle rate care plus Income Support. I own my home with the mortgage all paid.
My girlfriend (who suffers with the same mental illness as me) is in receipt of Income Support, housing benefit + counci tax benefit and DLA along with some benefits for her 3 year old daughter. I think her Income Support is at a high rate as she does not receive Incapacity Benefit.
Currently we have two separate claims but would love to move in together. How would it affect us financially?

Your claim would be based on the amount that the govt says two people need to live off, not one. If you enter your details into www.entitledto.co.uk it will give you an estimate of your entitlement.Gone ... or have I?0

I just did a test using the benefit checker tool and it appears we would be about £160 worse off a month. Definately worth considering as actually running two homes must cost us more than that.0

Absolutely, the savings in utilities, maintenance of the property etc should easily cover the difference. Good luck.Gone ... or have I?0 -
