I had my renewal today for Roadside and Relay for vehicle cover at a "discounted" cost of £83.12 I pay annually by direct debit
Roadside - £52
Relay - £57
Then apparently a 25% discount applied as a "special offer" - now I get a corporate discount anyway of 25% a year so I don't know whether thats what is supposed to be or whether it's an offer everyone is getting.
Even with this 25% "discount" it's still way more expensive than the £69 on their own website and £70 on RAC.
Never in a million years would I let the renewal tick over anyway but what amazed me was this on the bottom of the reverse of the letter under "your renewal cost"
The total renewal cost of your AA membership shown overleaf comprises insurance premiums of £61.12 payable to the insurers and a fee of £22 under your separate contract with automabile association insurance services limited for arranging and administering your AA membership
How bloody much? for what admin, does anyone elses say this I've never noticed it before?
Obviously I might as well go via quidco and get it for £70, then £20 cashback.

AA make a charge for just about anything, so reading your thread is not surprising at the least to me.
I was insured with the AA for a year, but changed this year when they gave me a quote of £376 for fully comprehensive with £150 excess, when another insurer gave me a price of £210 fully comprehensive with no excess and free EU breakdown cover with full recovery (On a 2.5 V6 Mondeo)
The AA wrote me offering me a renewal offer, but after doing some research on line, I found it would be cheaper to take a completely new policy up and not 'renew' as by using the renewal letter reference.
Do a free searches on MoneySuperMarket.
I found AA to be the highest priced insurer I have been with in a long time.
Regards there renew, beware that if you have Direct Debit set up that they will auto renew unless you tell them otherwise.
The breakdown service I had to use once, I found them very professional and although there cover costs a lot, you are covered by a well known big company.
You can easily get breakdown cover for £2-£4 a month, so I would have a look around and not renew with them, if you are looking to save some money this year on breakdown cover!0
