Doorstep Charity Collectors (again)

I know it has been discussed before.... but this is war.
At 8.40pm, just gone dark, there was a loud hammering at my front door. Two weeks ago a neighbour had something similar, three masked thugs demanding money. So I dashed upstairs, opened the bedroom window and shouted down. It was a Scope charity collector, who started shouting his spiel back at me. I asked if he had not read the "No Cold Callers PLEASE" sign on the door. He said he wasn't cold calling ! Obviously I had forgotten I had invited him. He continued with his patter about all the great work Scope do. I am sure they do. But I do not want disturbing in my own home at any time, let alone at night.
There are a number of elderly people around me who are scared out of their wits at night - one lady with dementia will have just been put to bed by carers. What's going to happen if she gets up to answer the door ? Will she remember to lock it again - will she be able to get back to bed. Have these collectors no respect !

Goodness - too late for Charity collecting IMO. Do it in daylight at least! Any knocks on the door at night time scare me half to death. :mad:I'm still driving away and I'm sorry everyday,
I won't always love these selfish things.0
