Holiday money
OhYeah
Hi I have recently started claiming Income Support. My friend gave me a £300 to spend on holiday as she was aware that money was tight since lsoing my job. I had booked the holiday before I lost my job. Do I declare the £300 to the DWP and will I have to pay the DWP £300 equivalent?

As long as there is no relationship between the two of you, and it is a one off gift (and does not give you more than £6,000 in savings), there is no need to declare it.Gone ... or have I?0

Shall I tell them anyway. They said I have to tell them about the CSA payments even though they don't count them for Income Support purposes.0 -

dmg24, I think you are wrong here, you will need to declare it if claiming JSA (IB), and if your capital is less than £6K then it wouldn't affect the benefit. For JSA (CB), you won't need to declare it.0 -

The OP isn't claiming JSA - he/she is claiming Income Support.0 -
But the OP will need to tell JCP if they go abroad.0

Of course, but that wasn't the question. I just pointed out that the benefits being talked about were different from thew one mentioned in the OP.
Personally, I would declare it anyway - that way it can't come back and bite you on the bum.0
