    I really don't understand this deal. They've paid hugely over the odds for McAfee (paying 60% more per share than yesterday's closing price), yet McAfee's market share is shrinking year-on-year as consumers come to realize how crap the product is and large numbers of competitors enter the field each year. Plus what are the synergies going to be between the chip-maker and an software security company? Don't really see how they could work together in any meaningful way.

    It's probably just the M&A season taken to the the limit. They would have been more wise to buy or Apple :D Better still ARM

    Don't forget, IBM went from a big hardware company to software.

    Other than that, you took the words right out of my mouth, it seems a very strange deal.
