It doesnt get anywhere near the same level of success as loan and credit cards. The main reasons are that:
1 - most are sold under an advice process (which means there is a needs analysis and factfind and the person was qualified and authorised).
2 - most are set up how they are meant to be. i.e. monthly by direct debit from your account.

Unless yours is single premium MPPI or you were not eligible then there is no reason for the complaint to be upheld.

What reason did you give for your complaint?

  • when we took our mortgage 5 years ago we said that we did not want the ppi as my partner is on full pay if on sick and i also work so we would not need it. the advisor said its free for the first 6 months so you may as well have it so we agreed. as time went by i completely forgot that we had the mppi until recently. my mortgage deal is coming to an end so was looking through the paperwork and realised we had been paying the mppi all this time. i wrote the complaint letter to ysb and they responded saying that a telephone conversation took place in wich i said that my partner would not recieve any pay if he was off work sick !and that i agreed that we would like the mppi to continue. This conversation never took place. why would i say that when my partner recieves full sick pay.
i have now taken the complaint to the financial ombudsman. see what happens.
