Blimey! Things have changed since I last had a look - sorry!

    No worries, worth a go!

Tried others like 'rescue my car.com' but was like £18 less than AA and I've seen some poor reviews. I've always been happy with AA when I've needed them. I guess the £42 cashback will be a bonus.

Thoughts on being an existing customer and starting a new policy? My dad is the other person, perhaps I should put it in his name and add me as another driver? (He used to be a member but transferred it to me a few years ago).

Edit: Also, if the policy was in my dad's name but I went through the link on my quidco account, do you think that would be an issue?

  • I would think that the policy would have to be in your name to go through your Quidco account. Not sure though.

Will you as an existing AA customer just be able to pop up as a new customer?

    Hi

I had renewal from AA for £123, Home start, Roadside, relay. The breakdown is on the car. I phoned today to cancel and I was offered 40% discount. So I took it.

This is what Im thinking about doing. Renewal of £149 - WAAAT?!

Think I may just risk it, go for the 89.99 and hope I get the quidco cashback.
  • i was in the exact same position as the OP, rang them up this evening and simply said the renewal is too expensive at £140+, if i was a new member it would be 89.99, could they meet that price for me?

chap said he'd be able to offer a discount, and put me on hold for a minute. came back and said i could renew for 92.95 and they'd throw in unlimited legal advice (whatever that is!) and 2 extra callouts on the annual quota (probably won't use them!).

so for one simple and polite phone call, saved £50 :)

Same here. Called them to say that I wouldn't be renewing and they were suddenly able to match the new customer quote, funny how they were able to knock £60 off!

However, I thought I'd chance my arm with Quidco as they supposedly offer £42 cashback (yeah right!).

I basically lost a few benefits but none that I've ever used. For example, my old membership covered me for 9 breakdowns/year, new one is 5/year. Most I've ever called them out in a year is twice, so it's a risk I'll have to take. Also complimentary homestart went, but this is not particularly important. A few other benefits which I didn't even know I had, let alone used, went too such as 'fuel assistance', again not bothered as if I'm stupid enough to put the wrong fuel in then I deserve to be charged!

In short, I bought through quidco yesterday and there is nothing in my 'transaction history' yet. As I say, I fully expect to get nothing so won't be paying any more in absolute terms, but will just have lost a few benefits for taking a risk on quidco. Oh well, I'm not risk averse so all is well!

Ok, so the cashback offer doesn't work through quidco so am thinking of cancelling and trying through another cashback website, such as topcashback. Has anyone had any experiences with topcashback? They apparently offer the same deal as quidco so may be worth a shot.
