Finding an SNID number on a laptop

The charger on my laptop has stopped working and apart from being rather annoyed at being passed from pillar to post in trying to speak to someone about it I have been asked for an SNID number that is supposed to be on the bottom of my laptop (the sticker has come off) or on the box (I haven't kept the box!!) Does anyone have any ideas where else (if anywhere) I can find it please as I can't get any further without this number.

Never heard of a SNID no. Make and model of laptop would help...
You don't make it clear who you are contacting-are you trying to get a warranty repair or is it just to ID the model?
If you need a new mains adaptor out of warranty then just search on the relevant model no. on eBay, loads on there.
Edit: if it's an Acer, try this:

Hi macman I haven't heard of it either, but apparently that's what I need!! It is about a power adaptor but it is still in warranty, rang Curry's, who said if it was still in warranty contact the supplier, which I thought was a bit weird, rang supplier and yes it is an Acer and they told me to ring Curry's or Techguy. Got through to Techguy and they wanted details from my receipt. I know I have it somewhere but haven't got the time right now to search for it but need to get my problem resolved. Thought maybe you could this number on the laptop itself somehow.
Sorry meant to add it's an Acer Aspire 5536 and have had it since about Nov 09.If practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................

PS: it's not Acers's probem, it's the retailers. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
When you boot up the computer at the first splash screen (BIOS screen) - there should be an option to go into the setup, it might say e.g. "press F10 for setup". When you go into the BIOS setupyou might be able to find the serial number.0

Go to the Currys where you bought it and say "hey look my charger doesn't work I bought in November now fix it". They know they sold it to you , if not then how did you pay for it credit card check your statements, if you are still in warranty which it seems you are don't accept that they say contact the Manufacturer it is their responsibilty, and if it is was bought via credit card then take it up with them if Currys don't want to know. YOu can guarantee that in October this year they will send you a "Dear Mr/Ms gullible your laptop is 1 year old on x/Nov for 9.99 per month you can extend your warranty". Mind you I may be wrong.

Underneath the battery?Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
