Wescot & Barclays Bank

So I've been on a DRO which ended 22nd July. Wescot have sent me two letters demanding payment for Barclays. Should I send a 'prove it' letter or send them details of my DRO.

1st letter dated 23 July 2010
2nd letter dated 8 August 2010

    Hi,

I would probably send details of the debt relief order first and then see what the reply is. Only then would I consider sending the prove it letter, although I've no idea what you should do if they can actually prove it at that point. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can provide advice/assistance shortly.
If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

The Experian company representative was on this site earlier , he could have answered your question as Experian own Wescott .

If it's not part of my DRO (will check shortly) then I think it is statute barred. If it's what I think it is then I opened the bank account in 2002/2003 as a student account when I was in Portsmouth, moved to London in June 2003 and don't remember hearing from them since. Since 2006 I've been checking my credit reports on checkmyfile but this was never on any of them so I forgot all about it, I've always changed my address on my reports but Experian has never had any history on the report. Also used creditexpert a few times and don't remember it on there either, should I get another report so I can see details of this debt and when I last paid them but it's a bank account so will this be different?

EDIT: Just checked 'checkmyfile' and I have a bank down as Arrow Global Ltd which is a DCA for £1050. Defaulted 29th September 2009, account opened 8th August 2002. Only on my report since Feb 2010, no history before then. I didn't open any bank account in August 2002! Should I just wait till they find me?

    Hi debrag,

If you have not paid any money towards it or acknowledged it in 6 years (5 in scotland!) then it would be statute barred, although are you sure it wasn't on the DRO?

If its not on the DRO.
    .Send the Prove it letter
.If they reply with information that it is an old debt
    ..Send the statute barred letter.
    else
    .Send the DRO

My barclaycard was on my DRO but not the bank, never showed up on my credit reports online so didn't include it as I forgot about it (my bad I know)
