IE8 crashes when trying to print

Options
My old printer died so I've just bought a new Epson Stylus SX415, connected via USB. I've installed the software from the CD and done a test print from Word 2007, which works fine. However, every time I try to print a web page, Internet Explorer crashes, it won't shut down and I have to restart the computer, nothing prints out either. I've downloaded the latest driver from Epson's website but it hasn't helped.

I'm using IE8 and have 32-bit Vista Ultimate edition installed. Can anyone suggest a way I can fix this? I mainly want to print from web pages and at the moment I can't

Might be worth testing another browser first e.g. Firefox or Google Chrome. :)

Curiouser and curiouser - out of the few I've tried it seems to be mainly pages from the BBC website that make it crash and won't print  They wouldn't print out properly in Firefox either. I've tried pages from MSE, my local newspaper and Argos and they all printed fine in both Firefox and IE8. Why will some websites work and not others?
  • ie8 has bugs than the rainforest: as said use opera, mozilla , firefox , safari etc

It could be the the BBC have some code in place on the website that the browsers don't like. Are you trying to print using the browsers print button or does the site have a 'printer friendly' version (sometimes there is a button on the page somewhere that will say 'printer friendly version' or something like that! :)

swvillafan thank you  I can be such a numpty sometimes, not having a good day today! :wall:I was using the browser's print button (it always worked on my old Canon printer). The BBC changed their homepage recently and maybe that had something to do with it. There do seem to be printer-friendly versions of some of the pages, I've just tried to print one and it worked :D
