Solar Garden lights. The choice is massive. Please reccomend best ones.

I want some of those solar nightlights for my Garden but don't know which ones to choose because of the Vast choice. The reason I ask is... When I drive round in the car I see some really good bright ones and some pretty naff ones that are really dim. A few of my friends have got them and say differing Good/Bad things about them. Considering there are loads of different makes and they range from £1 in Poundland to £10 in DIY stores I don't know which is the best value. I'd appreciate peoples comments on theirs.!

What are you expecting them to do? None of them produce much more than a token sparkle.

Look inside and you'll find a couple of NiCad cells with about 600ma capacity which is around 1.5 Watt hours if fully charged (and for the most part they won't be). They usually power a single LED. Even a cheap LED torch will have half a dozen or more LEDs.

If you just want to mark a path then any will do that. If you want to light one up properly then none will.

Why not stop the car outside a few of the houses which have 'really good bright ones' and ask the owners from whence they were obtained? (Bearing in mind that it might just have been very sunny that day...)

If they don't call the police you may well get the answers you want!
