Tiscali call provider and 18185

Tiscali rang yesterday offering me free national and local calls to landlines at weekends if I consent to them being my call provider. (NO extra charge added to my internet package which I have with them)
I still have to pay BT the line rental.
However I use 18185 and was wondering will Tiscali still allow me to use that service?
Perhaps I was too hasty in agreeing to this.
I do have a 14 day "cooling off period"
I have always had good experiences with Tiscali broadband.

Please advise
Kind regards
Clare

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Car Insurance Carver!
Whilst your line rental is still with BT (don't, whatever you do, let Tiscali 'take' it), there is nothing to stop you using any CPS provider and/or any of the prefix-dial or dial-through providers.

Tiscali appear to have offered to become your CPS provider but I'd be very suspicious that their cold caller may have 'mistakenly' interpreted your 'yes' as authority to move the landline rental too.

Personally, I think you'd be better to opt instead for Martin's recommendation for CPS (Primus Saver Option 2) - and get free weekend and evening UK 01/02 calls and not just weekend calls.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Thank you!
    You have been most helpful.
I will double check to make sure that I still have to pay BT the line rental.
I dont think Tiscali will be making a fortune from my phone calls!!.
I will take your advice and view the Primus website.

I've looked on Tiscali website and it appears their free weekends does appear to be via CPS but remember that Primus do free evening and weekends for FREE (ie no monthly fee) as mentioned by Heinz so this in fact would save you more money than moving your calls to Tiscali.
  • Tiscali Talk have just introduced line rental as well,£10.99p a month includes caller display. http://www.tiscali.co.uk/products/talk/line-rental?code=NN-HB-0282 So they might have signed the Op up for line rental as well.

Tiscali Talk expect you to call an expensive 0870 number if you need to contact their customer service.Which may not be answered in UK. Calls to it are not included in your package.

Personally i would avoid them like the plague.
