i bought a pack of 12 chicken breasts and froze them up, it works out slightly cheaper than the supermarket, but for me, what you get for your money easily outweighs any thing else. The quality of the chicken is unbelievable, not pumped full of water, big and plump, and they are huge, much bigger than the supermarket ones. 12 big chicken breasts cost me £150

Hi Crisis point:A
I've moved this to shopping and groceries to see if you can get some other opinions.:j
There are a couple of threads which may help

Meat from butchers vs supermarket
Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. IMO the quality of meat from Costco is fantastic and the packs can be split to stock the freezer! The pork steaks are really thick and depending on what you use them fro and how good you are with a knife you could even slice them in half (side ways to halve the thickness!) The joints of meat are also fab as are the chicken breasts. I just wish there was a Costco closer to me...I have to stock up when I go and visit my mum! (love the Occasion cakes! In fact all the bakery goods are fab... recently had some of their HUGE muffins...trust me you only need half with a coffee for a snack!0

We buy the £12 tray of angus beef and divide. Think we get about 6-7 'Chinese takeaway' pots, freeze all but 1 to use straight away. In the supermarket we usually find (Tesco) 2 packets of 600g each for £6. The Costco tray is around 1200g i think but we’ve noticed just how 'beefier' it tastes even if you try it plain.
Cheese is the same, buy a big block for around £20 and stopped buying the £4 a go cathedral stuff. We divide the cheese up and freeze that too.
Overall i think we have saved money, not masses but its convenient too and stopped us getting tempted by expensive 'bargains' you see in the supermarkets.0 -

Does the cheese defrost ok, i've never tried freezing it?
I love the gammons at Costco, we get them and dp chops them up into smaller joints which will do a meal and leftovers (for 2 adults and 5 children - sixth is a veggie) and we usually get 4/5 decent sized ones out of one big gammon! And the taste is excellent too.
Even the frozen chicken breasts are excellent imo, really good size, don't shrink when cooked and really handy to keep in the freezer for curries or casseroles.
Our most favourite is the boneless pork loin joints, scrummy.0 -
Not always cheaper. But some stuff it. Need to get used to buying and storing items in bulk (unless you have a large family).
Also make sure you read off price inc. VAT. (smaller print usually).0 -
We absolutely love the steak at Costco.
It is more expensive than the supermarkets but the quality is far superior.
We bought a huge piece when it was on special offer sliced it and put it in the freezer(we asked for some bags when we bought it and they gave us loads so we put a couple of slices in each bag)0 -

Weve not noticed any difference to buying fresh, it grates really well still, tastes just as nice in a sandwich, cooking etc. I was sceptical when OH suggested it but it turned out great.
Overall i think buying our cheese that way has saved a small fortune.0 -
I buy all my meat/fish from Costco i do wait till it has an offer on though like every few months that have say 3.00 off the mince so i stock up and the chicken they do reduce on the last bbf date so you can get it cheap same with the fish and freeze it that day. I also get milk from costco as its much cheaper than the supermarkets plus you can freeze that too so i buy the 6 x 4 pints0
