Power saving on PC

I have just discovered the power saving feature on Windows XP. I have set the monitor to turn off after 15mins so I just have to wiggle the mouse and everything comes back on. There is a hard disk option - does this turn the computer right off or just put it into a sleep mode like the monitor?
I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

The hard disk option will stop the hard disk motor from rotating i.e. being constantly ready but this is not to be confused with Sleep mode of the PC.

  • I beleive the hard disk option stops your hard drive from spinning, which saves power. It may take a little longer to access it though when you start it up again.
  • oops, sorry for my slow reply :o
